All Balance Trainers are nationally certified and insured. Also, they have gone through extensive in-house training to learn the different training modalities. We practice what we preach! Each one has a different specialty and we routinely share training tips. Many clients train with more than one trainer to become a well-rounded athlete.
Graham King

Graham King, Washington DC's leading Functional Training expert, combines the expertise, knowledge, and enthusiasm to create training programs that not only produce desired results, but are also fun to do.
Graham has trained a broad range of clients including elementary school, high school, college, and semi-pro athletes, weekend warriors, and plenty of baby boomers - he's even trained three generations of one family. Graham helps clients improve the way they move, they way they feel, and the way they look.
Graham has been featured on WUSA (Channel 9) and in the Washington Post. Graham is a Certified Personal Trainer by the National Academy of Sports Medicine and the National Strength Professionals Association. and holds several other specialty certifications including SAQ(Speed, Agility, and Quickness), Core Strength and YogaFit.
Mark Crick
Owner, Personal Trainer
Mark Crick believes everyone can train like an athlete to achieve results regardless of age or current physique. To excel as an athlete you need to develop lean muscle that is able to function with natural movement. Mark helps his clients not only achieve their desired goals, but also provides them with a level of functional fitness and confidence. Mark executes achieving client goals with a precise combination of strength training, cardiovascular exercise, repeated bouts of high intensity activity, and flexibility and mobility training.
Also, for the past 12 years he has been a professional rugby player, having played around the globe in some of the toughest competitions in the world. This raw knowledge of training, accompanied with a strong educational background, including both a bachelor's degree and a master's degree in Sport Science and Management, makes Mark an ideal trainer. He has also been featured in the Washington Post , Express , and on NBC4.

James Bathurst

Jim has a passion for healthy living and a wide base of knowledge that he utilizes to develop a personal and effective training program for each client. He strives to make sure clients not only work out hard , but also smart in order to reach their individual fitness goals.
Jim has a diverse background in the field of physical fitness. He started weight training nearly 10 years ago, competing in several Maryland State bench press championships. He continues to enjoy the positive effects that lifting weights has on his mind and body. In high school, he ran for 12 seasons, heading to the State Championships in Track and Field several times in both team and individual events.
While studying Sociology at the University of Maryland, Jim joined the exhibitional gymnastics group, Gymkana, which performs both traditional and non-traditional gymnastics for local area schools with the message of drug-free, healthy living. Jim is a Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist by the National Strength and Conditioning Association. He continues to read and research extensively in order to stay informed of cutting edge training ideas and methodologies.
Josh Courage

Josh comes from an extensive background of sports and exercise, having learned from and trained with body builders, strength competitors, martial artists and professional athletes. He has gathered knowledge from all areas of health and fitness. He continues to educate himself in the latest research on health and fitness.
Josh is an accomplished athlete with three years professional baseball playing experience. He also has experience competing in soccer, basketball, cross-country and football. He is an AFPA Certified Personal Trainer and Sports Conditioning Specialist with over eight years coaching and training experience.
His goal is to help people learn about and live a healthy lifestyle.
Kevin Norris
Personal Trainer
Kickboxing, Post-rehab and Postural analysis, Integrated flexibility
Kevin Norris is an ACE, NASM, AIFE and AAHF Master Certified Personal Trainer since 1993. Kevin is also a certified kickboxing instructor, certified post-rehabilitative exercise specialist and postural analysis and integrated flexibility authority. He also possesses several national advanced certifications in several special populations and is currently studying to be a Yoga Instructor.
In 2002 Kevin added Life and Wellness Coaching to his repertoire of services and trained through CTI, The Coaches Training Institute in San Raphael , California . Clients now coach with Kevin one-on-one in creating a life filled with health and wellness.
Kevin is a competitive athlete and triathlete and is proficient in martial arts, yoga and cycling. He has completed three 330 mile Washington , DC AIDS Rides and in 2002 competed in Gay Games VI in Sydney , Australia with a personal best in a 10K running road race. He is an accomplished chef who can make healthy food taste great and is an avid nutritionist.
His client base is eclectic and enjoys working with clients of all ages and fitness levels and among other areas specializes with the older adult population and clients with back problems and spinal disorders. In the past 15 years, He has trained men and women from the age of 9 to a spry 104 year old.

At Balance, we allow certified, professional, experienced trainers to bring their clients in and train at out gym. These trainers choose to train at their client's home or here at Balance. Steve Hammond has been involved in fitness training for over ten years with certifications from the American Council on Exercise (ACE) and National Academy of Sports Medicine (NASM). He offers personal training, health and fitness assessments, home gym setup, and group seminars.
His one-hour sessions are especially geared towards your specific goals. Health and fitness assessments include an extensive physical evaluation and a basic home workout routine. For home gym setups, Steve personally helps you find the best equipment for your budget to create an effective workout environment that you know how to operate to reach your health and fitness goals. In Steve's classes, you will learn to properly and confidently use the equipment and to create effective workouts for your goals.

Beth Antell

Post-rehabilitation and Flexibility, Pre⁄Post Natal
Beth Antell began her career in fitness career teaching exercise classes 17 years ago. Two years later she started personal training. She received certifications from the American Council of Exercise (ACE), Aerobics and Fitness Association of America (AFAA), National Academy of Sports Medicine (NASM), Spinning, and A-I Stretch. In addition to her training, Ms. Antell holds a Masters degree in Health Fitness Management.
Her specialties include post-rehabilitation routines, exercise programs for business travelers, and flexibility training sessions. Beth works mainly with clients who have limited fitness backgrounds. She caters to their needs by designing programs best matched for their physical capacity.
As a personal hobby, Beth enjoys cycling. She even climbed several mountains included in Tour de France.
Ron Nelson

Running & Cardiovascular Endurance
Ronald Nelson completed a Bachelor's of Science in Health Science from Lincoln University in PA. He is certified as a Personal Trainer by the National Association of Sports Medicine (NASM) and completed a B.S. in Health Science from Lincoln University in PA.
Ronald has been active in the fitness field for over ten years. He is an avid runner. Ron's passion for running began during his attendance at Eastern Senior High School and Lincoln University (PA). As a collegiate track athlete, team captain and Health Fitness Professional, Ronald has a strong client base that continues to benefit from his leadership and fitness skills.
Ronald loves to motivate his clients at Balance to improve on their core conditioning and muscular endurance. His philosophy is the following: "As an avid runner, I believe in building and maintaining your cardiovascular and muscular endurance in order to achieve your goals in health and everyday life." His programs will address muscle imbalance, muscular endurance, core strength/stability, and flexibility using many different platforms.
