Saturday Boot Camp

This class incorporates training in all of the attributes that we focus on at Balance Gym: strength, power, speed, agility and endurance. Plus, it's a great way to start your weekend - you've trained during the week, lifting weights and running a few miles... now, take advantage of the extra time to really challenge your body.

A typical 90-minute class begins with 10-15 minutes of movement prep, including sprinter's warm ups, partner drills and body weight exercises. Then, depending on the weather, we'll head outside with our training equipment - parachutes, med balls, agility ladders, sand bags - to one of the open areas around the gym such as Mitchell Park, Rose Park, or Rock Creek Park. Once there, we will run through a series of athletic drills (100 yard sprints, T-drills, parachute runs, med-ball throws, sandbag carries, kettlebell swings). Finally, we make our way back, sprinting hills and other running drills. If we're inside, we will make use of the equipment inside, working on Olympic lifts and body weight movements such as pull ups, push ups and single-leg squats.

If you've played a sport, then this class will resemble a team practice - you'll get the familiar sense of those around you both encouraging and challenging you at the same time, making for an unforgettable experience.
