Kate Mattingly
Kate Mattingly teaches classes about movement and the body in studios and lecture halls. She studied Pilates with Kathy Grant, one of the few instructors certified by Joseph Pilates himself, and became certified through the IM=X and BASI Pilates. She teaches courses in Pilates for the Exercise Science Department of George Washington University and courses in Dance History and Appreciation for George Mason University. She has written about dance and fitness for The New York Times, The Village Voice, Dance Research Journal, The Washington Post, and the magazines Pilates Style, Dance Teacher, Dance and Pointe. She graduated from Princeton University magna cum laude with a degree in Architecture and completed her MFA in Dance at the Tisch School of New York University. Alongside teaching and writing, she enjoys practicing yoga, dancing, and scuba diving.
